Ventura County Law Enforcement Gears Up To Keep Impaired Drivers Off The Roads During Holidays
Thursday December 19, 2024
Law enforcement agencies from throughout Ventura County will be making an extra effort to keep impaired drivers off the road during the holidays.
DUI/DL checkpoints are planned for Friday night in Oxnard, Ventura, and Thousand Oaks.
In addition local police departments, the sheriff's, and CHP will have extra patrols throughout the county through New Year's Day.
The year-end enforcement effort will be focused on impaired drivers but they will also be looking for impatient or reckless drivers.
Impaired drivers these days don't just mean people who've had too much to drink.
It can also mean people who've used cannabis products, and even prescription drugs whether obtained legally or not.
It comes down to one basic question, has your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle been compromised in any way.
The authorities say if you're celebrating with others, make sure there is a designated sober driver.
And if that's not possible, then get an Uber, Lyft, or cab.
