Ventura County Crime Rate The Lowest Among The State's 16 Largest Counties

     A new report says that Ventura County had the lowest crime rate among California’s 16 largest counties in 2022.

     The report published by the Ventura County Civic Alliance showed that while many large counties in the state saw a rise in crime between 2020 and 2022, Ventura County saw a decrease.

     In fact it was the lowest crime rate in Ventura County modern history.

     The overall crime rate in the county 1994 was 37.52 crimes per 1000 population but by last year it had dropped to 15.49 crimes per 1000 population, a 59 percent decrease.

     In 2022, the Ventura County violent crime rate was just under 2 reported crimes per 1,000 which is 30 percent below the county with the second lowest violent crime rate.

     Also last year, Ventura County’s property crime rate was 13.51 per 1,000, 17 percent below the county with the second lowest property crime rate.

     Every city in Ventura County has showed significant improvement in lowering either violent or property crimes or both.
