Thousand Oaks Man Pleads Not Guilty To Torturing And Murdering His Girlfriend

Thursday January 27, 2022

Updated--The Thousand Oaks man charged with torturing and murdering his live-in girlfriend two days before Christmas has pleaded not guilty.

21-year-old Saul Nava was in court Thursday to be arraigned on the charges in connection with the December 23, 2021 incident at their apartment in the 600 block of McCloud Avenue in Thousand Oaks.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel were called to the residence on Christmas Eve morning where they found the 24-year-old victim unresponsive with injuries covering her body.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nava was also there and was arrested and later charged with first-degree murder and torture.

He is being held without any chance of posting bail.

In court Thursday, Nava reportedly said he wants to change defense attorneys.

A hearing on that was set for Friday.
