Thousand Oaks Man Ordered To Stand Trial For Torture And Murder Of Girlfriend

Wednesday October 12, 2022

Following a two-day preliminary hearing, a judge Wednesday ordered a Thousand Oaks man to stand trial for the torture and murder of his live-in girlfriend.

22-year-old Saul Nava has pleaded not guilty to a dozen felony charges including torture and murder, and has denied more than three dozen special allegations.

The charges and special allegations not only involve her death but also what appears to have been extensive domestic violence leading up to her death.

Nava is also facing other allegations including kidnapping and possession of child pornography

On Christmas Eve 2021, deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to a residence in the 600 block of McCloud Avenue in Thousand Oaks where they found a 24-year-old woman who had been beaten to death.

The authorities determined that she had been tortured prior to being killed and had suffered extensive injuries.

Nava was arrested at the scene.

He will be back in court on October 26th to have a trial date set.

Nava remains in the Ventura County Jail and is being held without bail.
