Thousand Oaks Man Charged With Murdering His Mother With A Hammer

     Updated--A Thousand Oaks man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his mother with a hammer.

     21-year-old Scott Goldberg also pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon in the hammer attack on his father who survived.

     Prosecutors say the attacks happened on the night of November 19, 2023 at the family home in the 200 block of Mayfield Court in Thousand Oaks.

     They allege that Goldberg first attacked his mother, 63-year-old Alison Marshall upstairs, bludgeoning her in the head.

     His 64-year-old father, hearing her screams, raced upstairs only to have Goldberg turn and attack him with the hammer.  

     Deputies responded to the home and took Goldberg into custody without incident.

     His mother was taken to Los Robles Medical Center with multiple skull fractures and a brain injury.

     She was released on November 28 to hospice care where she died on December 1st.

     Initially, Goldberg was charged with the attempted murder of his mother but after she died from her injuries, prosecutors changed that to murder.

     Goldberg was in court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges and he denied all special allegations.

     He is being held without bail.
