The planned East County Family Justice Center will be located in Thousand Oaks.
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko made that announcement at Tuesday's Ventura County Board of Supervisors Meeting in Camarillo.
It will be the third Family Justice Center in Ventura County.
The other two include the first one in Ventura and a second one that will be in Oxnard by next year.
The Thousand Oaks location has yet to be selected but it will require several things.
First, the building must be purchased, not leased.
It must be 8,000 to 12,000 square feet, located near transportation and medical centers, and have open space for youth recreation activities.
Family Justice Centers offer a holistic approach to the victims of crime and their families, providing a comprehensive array of services and programs in a safe environment for them to recover, heal, and break the cycle of violence.
Thousand Oaks was selected over Simi Valley based on a number of criteria including crime data, geographical factors, community input, and cost sharing commitments from municipal leaders.
