Update--Oxnard police say they've made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a teenager almost two months ago.

Detectives say that Monday they arrested 29-year-old Jose Alberto Salazar of Oxnard in connection with the shooting death of 17-year-old Miguel Angel Garcia of Oxnard.

Salazar was arrested in the Ventura County Jail where he has been in connection with an unrelated crime.

Garcia was found late on the night of April 15th in a vehicle at the intersection of Yucca and "F" streets.

He was taken to VCMC suffering from a single gunshot wound where he died the next day.

It was the fourth homicide in Oxnard in 2024.

Police believe the shooting took place in the 4200 block of "G" Street.

The motive for the crime remains under investigation.

The arrest warrant charges Salazar with murder and includes special allegations of use of a firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and having served time in jail and prison for prior crimes.
