Oxnard Man Sentenced For Lewd Acts On A Child

     Updated--An Oxnard man was given the maximum sentence for committing lewd acts on a child over several years.

     A judge Tuesday sentenced 33-year-old Victor Villanueva Legaria to more than ten years in prison.

     Last July, a jury found him guilty of two felony counts of lewd acts on a child and they found true special allegations that Legaria took advantage of a position of trust and that the girl was particularly vulnerable.

     He lived in the same home as the victim.

     Prosecutors say Legaria sexually abused the victim multiple times between 2016 and 2020 beginning when she was just 11 years old.

     The victim ultimately reported the crime to a family member who called Oxnard police.
