Updated--An Oxnard man has changed his plea to guilty in nearly decade old murder case.

33-year-old Christopher Arevalo was about to go on trial for the December 8, 2016 shooting death of 25-year-old Giovanni Vega of Oxnard.

Vega was gunned down in the 200 block of West Vineyard Avenue on December 8, 2016.
Arevalo, who already had a prior criminal record, fled California after the shooting but was located and arrested 9 months later with the help of the FBI in Farmington, New Mexico.
He remains in the Ventura County Jail and is being held without bail with sentencing set for April 11th.

Meanwhile, a second suspect in the crime, now 32-Joseph Minister of Oxnard had plead guilty a couple of years ago to the lesser charge of being an accessory after the fact with a street gang enhancement.

He's been free on his own recognizance pending sentencing which is set for April 10th.
