Oxnard Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing Ojai Valley Woman

     The Ventura County Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau says it's made an arrest in the death of an Ojai Valley woman.

     They say that 29-year-old Ricardo Ortega of Oxnard was arrested Saturday and booked into the Ventura County Jail on a charge of Felony Murder.

     Detectives say victim and suspect knew each other.

     Captain Cyrus Zadeh tells KVTA News that shortly after 4 PM Friday they received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 500 block of North La Luna Avenue in Meiners Oaks requesting that deputies check the well being of a neighbor.

     When deputies responded to that location they found a 42-year-old woman in the garage of her residence.

     She was pronounced dead at the scene.
     Zadeh says because of the suspicious circumstances surrounding the situation Major Crimes detectives were called in and they determined the woman was likely the victim of a homicide.

     Meanwhile, Ortega's bail is set at $510,000 and he is due in court Tuesday to be arraigned.

     They are not releasing any other information regarding the crime.
