New Details About Fatal Crash Near Simi Valley Christmas Evening

      Update--The California Highway Patrol has released new details about a fatal crash Christmas evening near Simi Valley.

      They say that around 6:20 PM Sunday evening a 38-year-old Simi Valley man was driving a maroon 2018 Chevrolet Corvette eastbound on Santa Susana Pass Road east of Box Canyon Road when for unknown reasons he allowed the vehicle to travel off the roadway and down a 150-200 foot embankment.

     His passenger, a 23-year-old Simi Valley man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

     The CHP says the driver was rescued and airlifted by helicopter to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills with major injuries.

     The Highway Patrol says that they arrested the driver for suspicion of DUI and then released him to the hospital for further treatment of his injuries.
