Moorpark Cold Case Murder Suspect In Court To Face Charges

Thursday May 16, 2024

Update--The suspect in a two-decade-old cold case murder in Moorpark was in court Thursday to face charges.

72-year-old Antoine Nehme of Victorville was charged with First Degree Murder and is also facing a a special circumstance allegation of Murder for Financial Gain and two special allegations of conspiracy and solicitation of murder.

Nehme did not enter a plea and his arraignment was continued to June 20th.

Nehme was 52-years-old when he is alleged to have been responsible for the fatal shooting of 71-year-old Dennis Leroy Wood of Moorpark.

In April of 2004 Wood was found dead in his home in the 12500 block of Mountain Trail Street in Moorpark.

The two men knew each other but the special allegations would indicate that Nehme was not the only person involved in the crime.

It took until last year before investigators believed they had the evidence needed to make an arrest and not until this month before they had enough to file charges and make an arrest.

Nehme remains in jail and is being held without bail.
