Missing Ventura Man Found Dead

    Ventura police say a man reported missing after he was last seen on Thursday was found in the ocean early Sunday morning off Marina Park.

     32-year-old Niko Nakamura was rescued, underwent advanced life support efforts but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

     Around 7 AM Sunday morning the Ventura City Fire Department received a report of a person not breathing in the bathroom at Marina Park.

     When they arrived they quickly determined that what they actually had was a person underwater in the ocean so they launched a major ocean rescue operation involving not only Ventura City Fire but also Oxnard Fire and Ventura County Fire along with State Parks and Harbor Patrol.

     Rescue swimmers found Nakamura unconscious and not breathing.

     Advanced life support was administered and he was taken to Community Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
