Man Dead After Being Attacked And Then Struck By Vehicles In Oxnard

     Oxnard police are trying to determine if they have a murder or a fatal traffic collision on their hands.

     Shortly before 9 PM Sunday night officers responded to the 300 block of East Hueneme Road to a report of a fight.

     They found a 50-60 year-old man lying in the roadway, dead.

     Police say that witnesses told them the man had been attacked by a group of people who then fled on foot.

     They say as he was lying in the roadway he was then struck by at least two vehicles, maybe more.

     The question for investigators is whether the man died from the initial attack or because he was struck by the vehicles.

     That stretch of Hueneme Road was shut down all night into Monday morning.

     Meanwhile, police are trying to find the people involved in the initial attack on the man.
