Updated--The man accused of what the CHP said was a DUI-related wrong way driver crash that killed two people on the 101 Freeway in Ventura last June has changed his pleas to guilty.
Tuesday, 21-year-old Evan Bouchard of Oxnard entered guilty pleas to two counts of Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated plus other DUI-related charges and he admitted a dozen special allegations.
The crash happened around 2:30 AM Saturday morning June 8th on the NB 101 north of Seaward Avenue.
The CHP started receiving a flurry of 9-1-1 calls reporting a VW Jetta traveling about 80 mph SB in the NB lanes around State Beaches.
Bouchard, who was driving the VW, crashed into a Nissan Versa going NB north of Seaward Avenue.
The driver and passenger in the NB Nissan, two Santa Barbara men ages 55 and 52, died at the scene.
Bouchard was not seriously hurt.
He remains free on bail pending sentencing on March 11th.
