The Ventura County Sheriff's Office says that on Saturday, October 12th detectives conducted compiance checks on registered sex offenders in and around the city of Camarillo.

They went to 82 locations and determined that 63 of the offenders were in compliance with the terms of their registration requirements.

Detectives say 19 were not contacted because they were either not home or had moved.

Either way, there will be a follow up investigation to determine if they are in compliance.

If they are not, they could face new charges and prosecution for being out of compliance.

The money that pays for these compliance checks comes from the state of California as part of what's known as the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) program.

Compliance checks of registered sex offenders are conducted on a regular basis throughout Ventura County.
