A former high school track coach in Oxnard was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to sex crimes involving a female student.

25-year-old Aaron James Mora of Oxnard was sentenced to two  years in prison and must register as a sex offender for life.

In October, Mora pleaded guilty to one felony count of sending harmful matter to a child.

He also admitted special allegations that the victim was vulnerable and that he took advantage of a position of trust.

Mora was a track coach at Oxnard's Pacifica High School in 2022 when he began texting messages to an underage female student on the team and sent inappropriate sexual images of himself to the victim.

He had been facing other charges and special allegations that were dismissed at the time of sentencing as part of the plea agreement.
