Fiery Fatal Crash In Ventura

     Updated--The CHP is investigating a fatal crash Christmas morning in Ventura.

     They say that at 3:45 AM Sunday a 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup was traveling from northbound Wells Road onto the eastbound 126 on ramp at an undetermined speed when the vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and burst into flames.

     The male driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.

     The incident shut down that on ramp for several hours Sunday.

     There had been a report from the scene that the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash but the CHP says the accident remains under investigation and the cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

     No other details were available.
