Thursday July 28, 2022

Oxnard police say the man found hanged off the roof of a local store Thursday morning committed suicide.

Police and fire responded to a report shortly before 7 AM of the body of a man that was hanging over the side of the Walgreens at 2303 East Vineyard Avenue near Oxnard Boulevard.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded to determine what happened.

They say that man was found hanging by a nylon strap tied tightly around his neck.

Detectives concluded that this was a suicide by hanging although the final determination as to cause of death will be made by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.

They say the man's identity is being withheld pending notification of family but KVTA News will not identify suicide victims except in very specific or limited circumstances such as person whose death would be widely reported no matter what the circumstances.
