Bicyclist Killed By Hit And Run Driver In Oxnard

     Oxnard police say that a bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Friday evening.

     The fatal collision took place shortly after 6 PM near the intersection of Saviers Road and Pleasant Valley Road.

     Traffic investigators say that a Mercury Mountaineer exited the parking lot of the Speedway Express Gas Station and made a right turn onto Saviers.

     The vehicle struck the bicyclist and then fled the scene.

     Police say the bicyclist, an unidentified adult male, was rushed to a hospital with major injuries and died a short time later.

     They said speed was not a factor in the incident but they do not know whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
