Pair Arrested For Allegedly Smuggling Drugs Into Todd Road Jail, And Other News

     Two people were arrested for allegedly being involved in trying to smuggle drugs into the Todd Road Jail near Santa Paula.

     The Ventura County Sheriff's Office says that an investigation determined that 52-year-old Maceo Holmes of Oxnard allegedly conspired with 28-year-old inmate Aaron Holmes of Oxnard.

     Maceo Holmes was arrested and then released on bail.

     Meanwhile, the inmate, Aaron Holmes, was arrested on the same charges.

     But Aaron Holmes is facing far worse legal troubles.

     He has been in jail on a murder charge since 2016 for the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Angel Gabriel Diaz of Oxnard in 2015.

     Aaron Holmes has pleaded not guilty to that and other charges and remains in jail with bail set at almost $1.4 million.

     Juveniles were involved in separate incidents over the weekend involving a stabbing and a shooting.

     The stabbing happened around 12:30 AM Sunday morning along Highway 150 near Lake Casitas.

     Two groups of people had arranged to meet there and a fight broke out that resulted in a male juvenile being stabbed.

     That juvenile was taken to the hospital with an non-life threatening wound.

     Five people were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and conspiracy in connection with the incident.

     Three juveniles and two adults.

     Why the meeting and what led to the fight and stabbing was unknown.

     Meanwhile, on Friday night in La Colonia in Oxnard there was a shooting.

     It happened in the 400 block of north Juanita.

     The victim was a male juvenile who was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening wound to the lower leg.

    No word on suspects or a motive for that incident.

     Oxnard police say following a two month investigation they have arrested two suspects in connection with an extensive organized retail theft operation.

     They say it involved multiple thefts during a one month space at several businesses.

     Friday a search warrant was issued at a residence in the 4300 block of Waterside Lane.

     Detectives say they found several items of stolen property and evidence related to an organized retail theft operation including a large amount of cash believed gathered from the illegal sale of those items.

     Oxnard police say that the two suspects, ages 27 and 35, are both from Oxnard, were booked into the Ventura County Jail.

     Ventura County Sheriff's deputies and CHP officers were involved in an hour and a half long pursuit throughout the Conejo Valley early Monday morning. 

     It started around 12:45 AM when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in Thousand Oaks and it failed to yield.

     That began a pursuit that traveled between Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills and Calabasas several times.


     They say on two occasions the driver rammed patrol cars.

     It finally ended when a CHP patrol car performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle and it crashed into a tree in the Los Virgenes area.
     The adult female driver from Tarzana was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony Evading, hit and run, and drug charges.
     No injuries were reported.

     Deputies say yesterday afternoon and evening they conducted an extensive search for an elderly Moorpark woman who suffers from dementia.
     She walked away from her home around 3 PM.
     The sheriff's department responded Copter 3, their Search and Rescue Team, and a K-9 to conduct the search and finally found the woman around 7:15 PM in an orchard not far from her home.
     The 81-year-old woman was not injured.
