 Bordline Healing Garden2

It's been five years since the unspeakable tragedy at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks.

On the night of November 7, 2018 a gunman entered the crowded gathering spot and opened fire.

He would ultimately take his own life as law enforcement closed in.

When it was over a dozen innocent victims had lost their lives including Ventura County Sheriff's Sergeant Ron Helus who was the first law enforcement officer to arrive and sacrificed his life to stop the gunman.

Since then the community has been working to heal and in that spirit Thousand Oaks created what they call the Healing Garden at Conejo Creek North Park.

Tuesday, on the fifth anniversary, family, friends, community members and public officials will be remembering and honoring those who lost their lives that night.

There has also been an effort to help the the 248 survivors who have worked to continue their lives in a way that honors those who did not make it out.

This year's event will be at 3 PM at the Healing Garden.
