Young Woman Dies In Crash On PCH In Ventura County
Monday February 01, 2021
The CHP says a young woman was killed in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway along Ventura County's south coast early Monday morning.
They say that around 1:37 AM 19-year-old Daniella Marie Martir of Valley Village, California was driving her 2019 Volkswagen Jetta southbound on PCH south of Thornhill Broome Beach.
The CHP says for reasons still under investigation, she unsafely turned her vehicle and lost control.
They say the vehicle plunged over the side of PCH and into the ocean.
Firefighters from Ventura and LA counties responded along with the Coast Guard, the CHP, and Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
The CHP says Martir was extricated from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
There was an extensive ground, air, and sea search to make sure there were no other victims.
The CHP says at this point, they do not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The CHP Ventura office is conducting the investigation.
