What The Hail! Lightning-Caused Fires, Hail, And A Taste Of Rain In Ventura County

     Updated--Mother Nature put on a show Wednesday with lightning, thunder, rain, and hail in parts of Ventura County.

     The lightning strikes set several small fires in the steep, rugged, and remote mountains north of Highway 126 between Santa Paula and Fillmore.

     Firefighters were able to contain those fires to less than an acre each although Mother Nature helped with a little rain right after causing them.

     In fact, the mountains above the Ojai and Santa Clara valleys recorded between a quarter to more than a half inch of rain.

     Other areas of the county, including Camarillo, experienced hail and some rain.

     Most of the county saw less than a tenth of an inch of rain but some areas recorded between a quarter and a third of an inch.
