Ventura Woman Charged With Murder In Her Mother's Death

Friday December 22, 2023

The Ventura County District Attorney's Office has charged a Ventura woman with murder in the death of her mother.

38-year-old Megan Frisbie is also charged with felony elder abuse.

Prosecutors have alleged several special allegations including that the crime involved great violence, the victim was vulnerable, Frisbie allegedly took advantage of a position of trust, and there was great bodily injury and elder abuse to a victim over the age of 70 that resulted in death.

They also accuse Frisbie of committing the crime while on probation, mandatory supervision, post release supervision, and parole.

Frisbie was in court Wednesday but did not enter a plea and her arraignment was continued until January 19th.

She remains in jail with bail set at $1 million.

On Sunday December 17th, Ventura police officers responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of Ute Lane, which is in the north Ventura Avenue area of West Ventura.

Police say Frisbie made statements that led officers to believe that a crime had occurred inside of her residence which is nearby.

When they investigated they found a deceased female in the residence and took Frisbie in for questioning.

According to the booking report she was initially arrested for DUI while Major Crimes and the Medical Examiner investigated her mother's death.

She was ultimately arrested for murder while still in jail and then charged with murder by prosecutors.
