The Ventura County District Attorney's Office has filed a murder charge against a man who is alleged to have killed his roommate over the weekend.
19-year-old Christopher Rayhogan of Ventura is also facing a special allegation of use of a deadly weapon in connection with the stabbing early Saturday morning.
Ventura police said it happened shortly after midnight on Saturday morning in the 3400 block of Preble Avenue.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they say they found the male victim with a stab wound to the upper body.
He was taken to VCMC where he died.
Meanwhile, Rayhogan was caught by officers as he fled on foot from the scene.
Police say the fatal stabbing happened as the two young men were involved in a verbal altercation.
Rayhogan remains in the Ventura County Jail with his bail set at $510,000.
He did not enter a plea at his arraignment Tuesday and the hearing was continued until September 15th.
The Public Defender's Office was appointed to represent him.
