Updated--The CHP says they've arrested a 50-year-old Ventura man in connection with what they allege was a DUI-related traffic collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian on the 33 Freeway late Thursday night.
It was reported shortly before 11:30 PM on the 33 north of Main Street in west Ventura.
The CHP says the 50-year-old Ventura man was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on the freeway when he struck a male pedestrian who had been walking in traffic lanes.
The pedestrian, who was not identified, died at the scene.
The CHP says they arrested the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
He was booked into the Ventura County Jail for misdemeanor DUI and felony hit and run.
His bail was set at $50,000 and he was released on bail and is due in court next month.
A second vehicle struck the debris from the initial collision but was not considered liable for what happened and that driver was not cited for any reason.
