Ventura Man Arrested For Driving Through Downtown Streets Closed For Outdoor Dining

Monday February 22, 2021

Ventura police say they arrested a man for driving through the downtown area around 9:15 Sunday night that is supposed to be closed off for the "Main Street Moves" outdoor dining and business event.

They say 25-year-old Eusebio Navarro of Ventura is alleged to have intentionally moved the barricades and then he drove down California Street to Santa Clara as officers tried to stop him.

He then drove in reverse into an empty dining tent at Finney's and then eastbound on Main to Chestnut.

Police say he then turned around and drove westbound on Main toward California before finally being stopped and arrested for DUI drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.

Police say those streets are normally crowded with pedestrians but fortunately, no one was hurt.
