Updated--The suspect in a fatal stabbing on a Ventura bike path in July has finally been charged with murder.

Prosecutors say 39-year-old Pedro Munoz of Ventura is alleged to have killed 26-year-old bicyclist Marcos Guzman Reyes of Ventura on July 23rd of this year.

Munoz pleaded not guilty Friday to all charges and denied all special allegations.

Police said at the time of the killing that Reyes was standing next to his bicycle where the path lets out along southbound Victoria Avenue between Power Storage and AAA when Munoz came up and stabbed him multiple times.

Reyes was rushed to VCMC where he died.

The authorities allege that Munoz then fled across Victoria Avenue into the Montalvo area and disappeared despite an extensive search.

Police say they identified Munoz as their suspect and a patrol officer spotted him three days later near the Ventura Auto Center.

There was a brief foot pursuit that ended with Munoz being taken into custody following a struggle with officers.

Munoz was booked into the Ventura County Jail but held on a PROS violation without being charged in the bike path killing for the next two months while the case was investigated.

The DA's office finally filed charges against him Friday.

Munoz continues to be held without bail.
