    Updated--There was a deputy involved shooting in Thousand Oaks Sunday morning.

     Around 6:50 AM Sunday morning deputies responded to a report of subject with a knife in the area of Avenida De Los Arboles near Erbes Road.

     The sheriff's office released the following description of what happened, "The incident began when deputies made contact with a 37-year-old man who was observed holding a knife.

     During the contact, the man advanced towards one of the deputies in a threatening manner with another device that appeared to be a bow and arrow.

     Despite receiving several verbal commands to drop the weapon, the suspect did not comply and continued to aggressively approach the deputy.

     As a result, an officer-involved shooting occurred."

     The sheriff's office says the deputies rendered aid to the suspect and he was taken to Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

     They say a knife and another item that looked similar to a bow was recovered at the scene.

     No deputies were injured.

     The incident is being investigated by the sheriff's office and the Ventura County District Attorney's Office who will both issue independent reports.

     In addition there will be a Critical Incident Report released to the public and the body worn camera video will also be released within 45 days.
