Ventura County Authorities Investigate Separate And Apparently Unrelated Shootings

     Ventura County authorities were investigating two separate and apparently unrelated shooting incidents Saturday night.

     The first was in Oxnard shortly before 8 PM in the Oxnard Pacific Mobile Estates which is southeast of Rice Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard.

     Initial reports put the location as the 100 block of Fontana Drive but an official news release from OPD said it was Fortuna Lane.

     The two streets are located back to back in the mobile home park.

      Oxnard police say officers responded to a report of a shooting victim and found a 22-year-old Oxnard man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

     Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene and then he was taken to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical but stable condition.

     Investigators with the Oxnard Violent Crimes Unit were looking into who did it and why.

     Meanwhile, around three hours later, shortly before 11 PM, another shooting was reported, this time in Simi Valley.

     It happened in the 1500 block of Patricia Avenue.

     They say a 25-year-old male sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

     An investigation into that shooting was also underway and no other details were released.
