The school that won this year's Ventura County Mock Trial competition is no stranger to the top spot, both here and statewide.

Team-1 from Trinity Pacific Christian School in Thousand Oaks came in first in this year's competition.

Third place went to Team-2 from Trinity with Saint Bonaventure placing fourth.

There were 22 high schools in Ventura County with a total of 525 students taking part.

This year's fictitious case was People v. Gold which was about a city council candidate's kidnapping.

A Ventura County team has won the state Mock Trial competition.

Trinity Pacific Christian School in Thousand Oaks came in first in the finals held over the weekend in Los Angeles.

They will now advance to the national competition set for May 2-5 in Wilmington Delaware.

This is the second time in three years that Trinity has come in first in the statewide competition.

Their first win was in 2021 in a competition that was held virtually because of the pandemic.

The state competition involves schools from throughout California who, like Trinity, have won local competitions.

The Mock Trial competition involves students taking on the roles of prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses and bailiffs involved in battling over criminal cases in a real courtroom in front of real judges with real attorneys acting as scorers.
