Ventura County Judge Nominated To Serve On State Court Of Appeal

    Governor Newsom has nominated Ventura County Judge Tari Cody to serve as an Associate Justice on the Ventura-based Second District Court of Appeal, Division Six.

     Judge Cody has served on the Superior Court bench in Ventura County since 2000.

     Before that, she was in private practice for 15 years.

     Judge Cody, who is 63-years-old, earned her law degree from Loyola Law School.

     She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Steven Perren.

     Her nomination requires confirmation by the Commission on Judicial Appointments which consists of the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, the State Attorney General, and Senior Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal.

     The Second District Court of Appeal, Division Six, handles trial court appeals of cases from Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.

     The position has a salary of more than $231,000.

     The Governor's Office say Cody is a Democrat.
