Saturday March 15, 2025
The unemployment rate in January of 2025 rose to 5.0 percent.
That was an increase from the 4.7 percent recorded in December and it was higher than January of 2024's 4.8 percent.
It was still lower than the California statewide average in January of 5.5 percent but higher than the national average of 4.4 percent.
As far as jobs were concerned, virtually every sector in January showed a loss of jobs month-to-month, and year-to-year.
The only sector that showed an increase was Private Education and Health Services that increased by 2,100 jobs year-to-year.
Mining and Logging showed no change month-to-month and year-to-year and Manufacturing showed no change year-to-year.
