Ventura County Job Market Shows Some Sign Of Life, But Not Much

Update--The Ventura County unemployment rate in February stood at 4.7 percent, down from 5 percent in January but the same as February of last year.
It was well below the statewide average in California of 5.5 percent but still slightly higher than the national average of 4.5 percent.
As far as new jobs in Ventura County was concerned, month-to-month there were 4200 with 2300 coming from non-farm sectors while year-to-year the job growth was down by 200 overall.
Month-to-month, most sectors were either unchanged or showed small losses with the sectors showing increases Business and Professional Services (+300); Government (+500); and Private Education and Health Services (+1,000) jobs.
Year-to-year, most sectors were down or unchanged with three notable exceptions including Private Education and Health Services (+2400); Government (+700): and Trade Transportation, and Utilities (+400).
