Ventura County Fire Worker Dies From Motorcycle Crash Injuries

The Ventura County Fire Department Fire Control Worker who sustained major injuries in an off-duty motorcycle crash a week ago on PCH north of Ventura has died.
On Thursday, a procession that included 22-year-old Zachary Gregson's family and fellow crew members accompanied his remains to his final resting place.
They traveled on the 101 Freeway with firefighters lining the overpasses to honor the young firefighter.
Gregson served on the Ventura County Fire Department's Hand Crew with his final assignment as Dozer Swamper for Dozer 12.
On their Facebook page, the Ventura County Firefighters Association posted this statement...
"It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Fire Control Worker Zachary Gregson. He has succumbed to his injuries sustained from an off-duty motorcycle accident that occurred on July 15th, 2021.
Zachary served on the Ventura County Fire Department’s Hand Crew with his final assignment as Dozer Swamper for Dozer-12. He leaves behind a loving family, a strong group of friends, and a grateful fire department.
Zachary dedicated his life to helping others by fighting fires. In his last days, that spirit of service to others continued as he has donated his vital organs in a final act of selflessness. It is the family’s hope that his generous spirit will live on through this gift of life.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, and prayed for Zachary and his family over these last few days. We ask that you please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers."
