Ventura County Authorities Handle Hundreds Of Fireworks Calls

     Ventura County authorities handled hundreds of complaint calls about illegal fireworks on the Fourth of July.

    The Ventura County Sheriff's Office reported 565 fireworks-related calls in just six hours Saturday night, and Oxnard PD says during a 10 hour period they had more than 900 calls for service, most of them related to illegal fireworks.

    The Sheriff's jursdiction includes the cities of Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, and Thousand Paks, plus the unincorporated areas of the county.

     Fire departments were also busy handling calls for vegetation fires that may or may not have been fireworks related.

     On Goodenough Road north of Fillmore Saturday night, 4-5 acres burned.

     There were several smaller vegetation fires reported around the rest of the county including, Ventura, Oxnard, and Thousand Oaks.

      Also on the Fourth of July, a stabbing at a party in the unincorporated area near west Ventura.

     An adult male was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound suffered during a fight at the party.

     No word on a suspect.
