Ventura County's 2024 Teacher of the Year is a veteran educator at Adolfo Camarillo High School.

Daniel Cook has been teaching for 16 years.

He is currently serving as a Learning, Instruction, and Technology (LIT) Coach who provides training and support to his fellow teachers so they can best meet students' needs.

One of his top priorities was to reduce the number of students who were getting D's and F's in math.

To that end, Cook led an effort to rewrite the school's math curriculum to provide more time for struggling students to learn the math concepts they needed.

That resulted in a 40 percent reduction in D and F grades.

Prior to his current position, Cook was Chair of the school's music department.

During that time he more than doubled its size and secured over $250,000 in grant funding.

Cook is now in the running for California Teacher of the Year.
