OPD DAY GENERIC2

Unlicensed Driver Arrested For DUI In Oxnard School Zone Tuesday Morning

Wednesday September 04, 2024

Oxnard police say one of their officers was working school zone enforcement Tuesday morning in the area of Fred Williams School when he saw a vehicle fail to yield at a stop sign.

He pulled the vehicle over and when he contacted the driver they say the officer could smell alcohol and also observed a beer can in the center console of the man's vehicle.

The officer took the driver into custody and when the breathalyzer results came back it indicated the man had a .31% BAC, nearly four times the legal limit for DUI alcohol.

The 37-year-old Oxnard man was booked into the Ventura County Jail on several DUI related misdemeanors plus a misdemeanor charge of being an unlicensed driver.
