Monday September 16, 2024

September Rain2

Update--Rain fans don't get too excited but Ventura County could see a slight chance of a little (very little) rain by midweek.

The forecast for Wednesday and Thursday calls for maybe a 20 to 50 percent chance of a tenth to a quarter of an inch of the "wet stuff" in the region.

There is also a 10-20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms in northern mountains of Ventura County.

Gusty winds off the ocean are also likely.

And then by the weekend it should be clear and warmer with highs in the coastal areas in the '70s with the inland and valley areas expecting weekend highs in the '80s and '90s.

Here is what the National Weather Service says about the midweek wet weather...

"A low pressure system will move into the area Wednesday and Thursday and bring a 20 to 50 percent chance of light rain to the region.

There is a 10 to 20 percent chance of isolated Thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon for the interior mountains of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties as well as the interior valleys of San Luis Obispo.

Rainfall totals will generally be under 0.25 inches, except locally higher in near any thunderstorms that may develop.

Additionally, the typical areas susceptible to west to northwest winds may see gusty winds of 20 to 40 miles per hour.

Take care while driving, as roadways will may be slick due to buildup of oil on roads. If thunder roars, go indoors!"
