The United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles says they’ve charged six people in connection with a rash of recent gun store burglaries or attempted burglaries including two in Ventura County.

The suspects, all males in their late teens or early 20’s, include four Lake Elsinore residents, one from Las Vegas, and one from Murrieta.

They are charged with nine burglaries or attempted burglaries at gun stores in California including the July 1st burglary at the Camarillo Gun Store on Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo in which 63 guns were taken and the attempted burglary on July 9th at the Smokin Barrel Gun Store in Simi Valley in which they failed to gain entry.

The authorities say the suspects would usually use a stolen vehicle to smash into the store and then they would grab as many weapons as possible and flee in another stolen vehicle.

The authorities say over 9 months the suspects took 300 guns, selling most on the black market including some used in other crimes.
