Suspects Arrested For Separate Attempted Kidnappings Of Females At Opposite Ends Of Ventura County

Thursday August 08, 2024

Two men have been arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap females in two separate incidents of "stranger danger" at opposite ends of Ventura County in broad daylight.

The first was Wednesday afternoon around 4:30 PM at Ramona and Olive streets in West Ventura.

Ventura police say the female victim was walking in the area when a vehicle drove past her then made a U-turn and the suspect got out of the vehicle and approached.

The strange man then grabbed her by the shirt.

She shouted for help and the suspect released her, returned to his vehicle, and drove off.

The victim reported the incident to police who were able to identify the suspect through video from a security camera in the area.

Then Thursday, the 20-year-old Oxnard man was tracked down, arrested, and booked into the Ventura County Jail for Attempted Kidnapping.

Meanwhile, in Simi Valley Thursday afternoon around 2 PM a woman and her 17-year-old daughter were in the parking lot of the Simi Valley Library when they were approached by a strange man who grabbed the daughter's wrist and arm and tried to pull her into his vehicle saying, "Get in my car."

The girl managed to pull away from him and the suspect got into his vehicle and fled.

Police found the suspect a few hours later and arrested the 40-year-old North Hollywood man for Attempted Kidnapping.
