Suspect Arrested In Ventura Homicide
Wednesday July 19, 2023
Updated--Ventura police say they've arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal gang-related stabbing on April 16th in the 200 block of East McFarlane Drive in west Ventura.
They say that 31-year-old Dillon Mansell of Ventura is accused of killing 31-year-old Jose Contreras of Ventura.
Police say that there was a gathering at a residence on that street and an argument broke out between the two men who knew each other.
Police say the Mansell has a history of gang related crime and is now in federal custody for probation violations.
He'll be returned to Ventura to face murder charges in this case.
This killing happened less than a week after an unrelated killing, a stabbing, outside the rest rooms at Surfer's Point in Ventura that resulted in the death of 39-year-old Raymond Morales.
Police also believe that may also have been gang related.
Two male juveniles were arrested in connection with that killing.
