Suspect Arrested In Connection With Drug Death Of CLU Student
Monday April 05, 2021
The Ventura County Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit says it has arrested a man who is alleged to have supplied the illegal drugs that killed a Ventura County university student.
They say on November 9, 2020, a female student at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks died from a drug overdose.
A five-month investigation resulted in the arrest last week of a Los Angeles man who the authorities claim was the source of those illegal drugs.
19-year-old Sergio Herrera was taken into custody in Los Angeles convenience store parking lot.
Ventura County detectives say a search of his vehicle turned up a large amount of illegally pressed fentanyl pills that were similar to those that are believed to have caused the death of the CLU student.
Herrera was arrested on drug charges, booked into the Ventura County Jail, and then released on bail.
He is scheduled to be in court on April 15th to be arraigned.
