Updated--A SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County late Friday night for what's called the Transporter-Rideshare program.
It's dozens of small satellites and an orbital transfer vehicle carrying additional small satellites for later deployment.
74 payloads all headed to space to orbit earth.
Liftoff was at 11:43 PM.
As the first stage of the rocket returned to a successful, if somewhat noisy return to a landing pad at Vandenberg, the second stage was also successful in completing the mission.
The Transporter Rideshare program involves companies and organizations paying SpaceX their satellites into orbit.
SpaceX says to date it has launched more than 1200 payloads to orbit for more than 130 customers.
