Updated--SpaceX launched a "boatload" of small satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base late Tuesday morning.
The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 11:09 AM with a "rideshare" payload called Transporter-12.
That involved 131 small satellites including CubeSats, MicroSats, and orbital transfer vehicles carrying 30 of those payloads, 14 of which will be deployed at a later time.
SpaceX says to date they have launched more than 1100 payloads into orbit for more than 130 customers.
After the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket handed the mission over to the second stage it returned to Vandenberg where it made a controlled landing about eight minutes after launch.
That's when it usually creates the sonic boom that some people hear depending on weather and other conditions.
