Simi Valley police say one of their officers shot and wounded a woman who was armed with a knife.
The incident began at 7:45 PM Tuesday evening when officers responded to a report of a dispute between two women at the 7-Eleven Store at 5820 East Los Angeles Avenue.
The officers were advised that one of the women was armed with a knife.
When officers arrived at the scene they contacted one of the women in the 1800 block of Yosemite Avenue which is down the street from the store.
Police say that during that contact, the woman attempted to attack one of the officers with a knife and the officer-involved shooting occurred.
The officers then immediately administered first aid to the woman and requested the Ventura County Fire Department.
The 31-year-old Simi Valley woman was taken to the trauma center at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
Her current condition is unknown.
Police shut down Yosemite Avenue south of Los Angeles Avenue all night as they investigated that incident.
