Santa Maria Man Pleads Guilty To Oxnard Murder

     Updated--A Santa Maria man has pleaded guilty to murder in the shooting death of a man in Oxnard.

     Prosecutors say that 25-year-old Manuel Dominguez Jr. was 19 when he was involved in an altercation with 29-year-old Roberto Gutierrez of Oxnard on December 13, 2018, in front of a residence in the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue in Oxnard.

     During the altercation, Dominguez used a handgun to shoot Gutierrez once in the chest.

     Gutierrez was rushed to VCMC where he later died.

     The investigation led to Dominguez as the suspect and he was arrested on January 2, 2019.

     Tuesday Dominguez pleaded guilty to one count of murder and he admitted a special allegation that he used a firearm.

     Dominguez remains in the Ventura County Jail without bail.

     He is set to be sentenced on November 6th.
