Port Hueneme Man Dies In Solo Vehicle Crash

     Port Hueneme police say a man was killed Tuesday following a solo vehicle crash near the Bard Gate of Naval Base Ventura County at Port Hueneme.

     It happened shortly after 1 PM on Ventura Road at Bard Road.

     Police say a 73-year-old Port Hueneme man was driving southbound on Ventura Road when he swerved into the center median and collided with several trees.

     The vehicle then rolled over several times, coming to rest near the intersection.

     The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was rushed to the hospital where he died.

     Police say speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.

     The crash shut down southbound Ventura Road for several hours Tuesday afternoon.
