Surfer Dies After Being Found Near Oxnard Beach

     The Ventura County Sheriff's Office and the Ventura County Medical Examiner were investigating the death of a surfer in the ocean off Oxnard.

     Shortly before 10:30 AM Thursday morning a woman walking on Mandalay Beach in the Oxnard Shores area spotted a surfer face down in the water near the beach.

     She pulled the unresponsive adult male out of the water.

     Another passerby called 9-1-1.

     The 9-1-1 operator talked the woman through the process of administering CPR.

     It was continued by first responders when they arrived.      

     The man was rushed to Saint John's Medical Center in Oxnard where he died.

     The surfer was described as a 54-year-old Ventura man.
